When people think about Disney magic, they often think about big moments—seeing Cinderella Castle for the first time, riding a favorite attraction, or watching fireworks light up the sky.
Some of our favorite Disney memories didn't cost anything at all. In fact, some of the most magical moments happen when you slow down, look around and experience the little details that make Disney special.
Here are seven ways to add a little extra magic to your Disney vacation without adding to your budget.
1. Pick Up a Celebration Button
Celebrating a birthday, anniversary, first visit, or simply being at Disney? Stop by Guest Relations or the front desk of your resort and ask for a complimentary celebration button.
You never know when a Cast Member or fellow guest might help make your day a little more special. When visiting Disney during our birthday month last January, we wore the free birthday buttons and were showered with sweet comments and sweet treats by cast members.
2. Hunt for Hidden Mickeys
Disney Imagineers love hiding Mickey shapes throughout the parks, resorts, and attractions. You'll find them on the ground, in wallpaper patterns, on attractions, throughout resorts, and in places you'd least expect. Turn it into a game with your family and see who can spot the most throughout the day.
3. Explore a Resort You've Never Visited
Many guests spend all of their time inside the parks, but Disney resorts are attractions in their own right. Ride the Skyliner, hop on the Monorail, or take a boat ride and explore somewhere new. You might discover a favorite spot you never expected or a reason to come back to Disney to try a new resort.
Some of our favorite Disney memories have happened outside the parks—lying in a hammock at Coronado Springs Resort, listening to live music on the BoardWalk, or simply wandering through a beautiful lobby decorated for the holidays.
4. Stay for the Kiss Goodnight
Many guests rush out of Magic Kingdom after the fireworks, but those who linger are sometimes rewarded with a quieter park, beautiful castle lighting, and a special farewell message. It's one of Disney's simplest and sweetest traditions.
5. Let a Kid Lead the Way
Sometimes adults spend so much time checking wait times and mobile orders that we forget to look around. Let a child choose the next attraction, snack, or photo location and see where the day takes you. You just might find yourself rope dropping Dumbo, taking an unexpected detour, or seeing Disney through your child's eyes. Sometimes the most magical moments are the ones you never planned.
6. Watch the Reactions Around You
One of the most magical things at Disney isn't an attraction—it's seeing someone experience something for the first time. Take a moment to watch a child meet their favorite character or a family see the castle for the first time. Joy is contagious.
7. Slow Down
This may be our favorite tip of all. Sit on a bench. Listen to the background music. Watch the parade pass by. Notice the details on Main Street or the countries around World Showcase. Some of the best Disney memories happen when you're not rushing to the next thing.
We once "rope dropped" the Magic Kingdom mailbox to send home postcards. It was a slow but really magical morning that gave us time to watch the Dapper Dans, notice details we'd never seen before, and appreciate parts of the park we often miss when rushing to a popular ride.

A Little Magic Goes a Long Way
The most memorable moments aren't always the ones that cost the most money. Sometimes they're the conversations while waiting in line, the hidden details you discover or the unexpected moments that make you smile months later when you look back at your photos.
Because a little magic doesn't have to stay on vacation.
Bring a little magic to your everyday.
Your pals,
Brittney & Courtney
