Movie Menu: Disney’s The Country Bears
Bring the Magic Home with a Cabin Cookout
The best memories aren’t always made in the biggest moments. Sometimes they’re created around a picnic table, relaxing on the front porch or gathered around a meal with the people who make you laugh.
Disney’s The Country Bears is filled with music, family and plenty of country charm, making it the perfect inspiration for a cozy cabin cookout. So grab your guitar, pour yourself a glass of sweet tea and get ready for a foot-stompin’ good time...the Bears are getting the band back together!

Why We Chose The Country Bears
Disney’s The Country Bears may be a little different from the traditional Disney classics, but that’s exactly what makes it so much fun. The movie follows Beary Barrington as he sets out to reunite his favorite band and save the legendary Country Bear Hall. Along the way, he discovers that families don’t all have to look the same.
Sometimes family is simply the group of people—or bears—who love you, support you and help you find your place in the world. The country setting also made this Movie Menu especially fun to create. Picnic-style foods, red gingham patterns, mason jars and a few rustic details turned our table into a cozy cabin cookout. No concert ticket required!
What’s on the Menu?
Every family can customize their menu, but here’s what we served for our Country Bear’s Cabin Cookout.
Campfire Corn Ribs
These corn ribs were the star of the show!
Corn on the cob is cut into “ribs,” seasoned with smoky spices and roasted until golden. We topped ours with creamy chile-lime sauce, Parmesan cheese, crispy fried onions and fresh herbs.
They’re a little messy...
But that’s part of the fun!
Smokehouse Baked Beans
No country cookout is complete without a warm and hearty side of baked beans.
Use your favorite homemade recipe or keep things simple with a canned version. Add a little barbecue sauce, brown sugar or smoky seasoning if you want to make them your own.
We won’t tell the bears how easy they were!
Country Garden Slaw
A crisp, vinegar-based slaw added plenty of crunch to our table. It was light, colorful and the perfect partner for the smoky corn ribs and baked beans. You can prepare it ahead of time, which means one less thing to worry about once movie night begins.
Front Porch Sweet Tea
Nothing says “sit down and stay awhile” quite like a cold glass of sweet tea. Serve it over plenty of ice with fresh lemon slices—or make unsweet tea, depending on your crowd! For little cubs, lemonade or apple juice would work just as well.
Honey Pot Cookie Dip
This may have been the sweetest part of the menu! We served a creamy honey-inspired cookie dip with Teddy Grahams for dipping. It was simple, playful and fit the bear theme perfectly. Just be warned...You may catch a few paws sneaking back for more!
Setting the Scene
This Movie Menu was all about creating the feeling of a relaxed country cookout.
We used red gingham, mason jars and rustic picnic-inspired decorations to make our table feel like it belonged outside a cozy cabin near Country Bear Hall.
You don’t need to redecorate your entire house to bring this theme to life.
A few simple details can add plenty of country charm:
A red gingham tablecloth or picnic blanket
Mason jars for sweet tea
Bandanas used as napkins
Wildflowers arranged in small jars
Wooden trays, crates or cutting boards
A washboard or other vintage country decorations
Corn, honey pots or bear-themed accents
A handmade “Country Bear Hall” sign
Turn on some blue grass music while preparing dinner and let everyone arrive ready for the show.
Behind the Scenes
Corn ribs look simple...Until it’s time to cut the corn! Corn cobs can be difficult to slice, so this step took a little patience and a very sharp knife. Microwaving the corn for a minute or two first helped soften it slightly before cutting.
Once the hardest part was finished, everything came together quickly. The corn roasted in the oven while we prepared the toppings and arranged the rest of the cookout. And when every corn rib didn’t curl exactly the same way? We covered them in sauce, cheese and crispy onions. Problem solved! Those imperfect, slightly messy moments are quickly becoming one of our favorite parts of creating these Movie Menus. It isn’t just about the finished table...it’s about laughing together, trying something new and making memories along the way.
Keep the Magic Going
Before pressing play, try asking a few conversation questions like:
If you could play an instrument in the Country Bears’ band, what would you choose?
What would your country-music stage name be?
If your family started a band, what would you call it?
Which Disney character would make the best lead singer?
What is something that makes your family special?
If you could take a road trip anywhere, where would you go?
Which Country Bear would you most want to meet?
What song always makes you want to dance?
You could even let everyone introduce themselves using their new country stage name before dinner. The sillier, the better!
Make It Your Own
There isn’t a “right” way to host a Movie Menu night. Maybe your family loves baked beans. Maybe you would rather add barbecue sandwiches or cornbread. Maybe your little cubs just want to eat Teddy Grahams while wearing cowboy hats. It all counts!
Here are a few more ways to add some Country Bear fun:
Dress in plaid, denim or your favorite country-inspired outfit.
Create a family band using toy instruments or kitchen utensils.
Make pretend concert tickets for Country Bear Hall.
Play country music while preparing dinner.
Hold a family sing-along before the movie.
Let everyone choose one song for your movie-night playlist.
Have a dance party during the closing credits.
End the night by sharing something you love about each member of your family.
Remember...The goal isn’t to create a picture-perfect evening. The goal is creating memories. That’s something worth singing about!
